Nextel Bluetooth Phone
Nextel's first foray into the Bluetooth market is the Motorola i605. This mobile phone features a large color display, excellent speakerphone capability, voice dialing, GPS, and Java. This is a feature-rich phone that can be had for under $200.
The i605 is powered by a lithium ion battery that gives it a standby time of 240 hours. You'll be able to go for quite a while between charges.
It's size may be a bit larger than some mobile phone users have become accustomed to. It's 4.92 by 1.97 by 1.18 inches and weighs 5.9 ounces. However, this gives you a rugged, reliable phone with plenty of screen space so you can see what's going on.
The display features an extra large screen with a 2.2 inch diagonal (176x220 pixels) and 262,000 colors. It's optimized for outdoor use with enhanced clarity for reading text, graphics, and phone icons. Its all weather and rugged design certified to Military Standard 810 F for dust, shock, vibration, temperature extremes, low pressure, and solar radiation.
The i605 can be set to vibrating alert so that you don't bother others around you when you have an incoming call. It supports voice dialing, allowing you to speak the name of the contact in your address book and dialing the number associated with that contact.
This phone comes with an address book that can hold up to 600 entries. It also features a calendar to allow you to keep track of your appointments. Since this is a Bluetooth enabled phone, this information can be shared with and synchronized with your personal digital assistant, laptop, or desktop PC.
The i605 features Short Messaging Service (SMS) for text messaging and predictive text entry to make it easier for you to type using the phone's numeric keypad. It comes with a multi-language menu and is pho caller ID capable.
The GPS feature is also a nice bonus. You can view your approximate location on screen. And if you need to make a 911 call, this feature will help emergency personnel to locate you.
The phone even has an "airplane mode," allowing you to turn off the phone features while in flight and still enjoy the phone as a portable gaming device, record voice messages, and check and modify your datebook.
