Sony Ericsson K750i
The Sony Ericsson K750i Bluetooth enabled phone weighs only 3.5 ounces and measures 3.9 by 1.8 by 0.8 inches. It fits easily into purse or pocket. At that size, the display isn't the largest-only 2 inches diagonally. But that carries 176x220 pixels and 262,000 colors, so the display is gorgeous, crisp, and detailed.
The keypad may be one drawback to this phone. They blue, backlit, angled keys look stylish but may not be the easiest to use. They can be hard on the fingers over time. The phone comes with a navigation joystick that may be difficult to use as well.
As far as features go, this phone seems to have it all. It has an infrared connectivity option in addition to the fully enabled Bluetooth. That's less common than you might expect. Many mobile phones offer Bluetooth capability, but if you read the not so fine print, that doesn't include file transfer capability. The Sony Ericsson K750i doesn't cheat you that way. You can upload and download pictures, synchronize your contacts and calendar, and even pull up your mobile phone's menus on your Windows PC or Mac to browse it that way.
You will also be delighted by the Sony Ericsson K750i's 2 megapixel camera. This may be the best camera phone currently available. The snapshots taken with this phone actually measure up to those of an inexpensive standalone digital camera. The camera features resolutions from thumbnail (160x120) to an enormous 1,632 x 1,224 pixels. The camera offers auto focus, macro focus for close-ups, an 8-second self-timer, and night mode. You can use color effects such as sepia, negative, and black and white. The 4x digital zoom lens allows you to choose exactly what you want to be in your picture. A rapid-fire burst mode allows you to take pictures continuously.
The video recorder offers almost the same feature set as the camera. The length of the videos is limited only by the amount of memory you have.
The phone also functions as an MP3 player with playlists, voice and treble boost, and an equalizer. Or if you just want to listen to FM radio, this phone lets you do that as well, grabbing Radio Data System info from stations to tell you the call letters of the station you're listening to.
Beyond that, you have standard features. It has a 510-entry phone book, a calendar, photo-caller ID, text messaging, wireless web and email with POP3 and IMAP access, and speakerphone. It offers a wide array of ring tones as well as a MusicDJ program that allows you to create your own ring tones. Games, wallpaper, screensavers, and all sorts of customizable options make this phone a great bet.
The Sony Ericsson K750i comes with 34 MB of shared RAM and a 64 MB memory stick.
The Sony Ericsson K750i phone offers an impressive 9 hours of talk time and over 16 days of standby. Those numbers may be a little optimistic. Expect about 5.5 hours of talk and 10 days of standby and you won't be disappointed.
The Sony Ericsson K750i can be purchased for about $425.
