Sony Ericsson P910 Phone
The Sony Ericsson P910 is a Bluetooth enabled smart phone that strikes a good balance between being a mobile phone and a personal digital assistant (PDA). It weighs only 5.5 ounces and measures 4.5 by 2.3 by 1.0 inches, yet it packs a powerful punch and has a long battery life.
The P910 comes with a 3 inch touch screen and stylus for ease of navigation through menus and while web browsing. You can't actually change the text size, but it does have a zoom feature that allows you to get the same effect. With 262,000 colors and a sharp display, you'll be able to read the smaller text much more easily than on most phones anywwy.
The P910 features an innovative flip-down QWERTY keyboard. Flipped up, the back of this keyboard has a standard telephone dialing pad along with OK, Back, Clear, and Menu keys. Flipped down you can type away on a standard but small keyboard. The keyboard is smaller than may be comfortable for most, with the keys sitting close together. The numeric keypad is backlit so that you can see it in the dark but the QWERTY keyboard isn't. The numeric keys are raised slightly so that you can dial by feel.
The Sony Ericsson P910 offers an impressive 64 MB of embedded memory and has no limit on the number of store contacts beyond what the memory will allow. In addition to that, the phone includes a 32 MB Memory Stick Duo card. The slot for this card can handle cards up to 1 GB, so this phone can have more memory than you're likely to use.
In addition to Bluetooth, the P910 offers an infrared port and a charging cradle that can connect the phone via USB. This offers you a number of data transfer options as well as the capability to add a wireless Bluetooth headset to speak on the phone with ease.
This phone offers an easily used speakerphone. It can be set to vibrate mode. It has an alarm clock, a calculator, a sound recorder, and supports text and multimedia messaging. It also functions as an MP3 player, producing clean audio quality for your listening pleasure. You can view and edit Word and Excel documents with Quickword and Quicksheet. Solitaire and Chess are included with the phone to entertain you during down times.
The email support for this phone is good. You can even use it to sync with IMAP4 mail servers, though the process can be a bit fussy. You may need to enlist the help of your IT department. But you can also use the phone for standard POP3 email and web mail such as Gmail or Yahoo. The WAP browser works well if a little slowly.
The P910 comes with a VGA camera that can take pictures at up to 640X480 resolutions while controlling brightness and contrast and adjusting the lighting. It gives you a mirror for self-portraits. The camcorder will record an hour of video with sound in the MPEG-4 format.
The Sony Ericsson P910 Phone can be purchased for about $425.
