Sprint Bluetooth Cell Phones
Sprint PCS offers less variety than other carriers for Bluetooth enabled mobile phones. Below are three options that may provide what you're looking for.
Audiovox PPC6601
At over $600 the Audiovox PPC6601 is one of the priciest Bluetooth mobile phones on the market. Still, it has a lot to offer. The highlight of this device is the full QWERTY keyboard that is hidden behind the screen. The keys are printed on plastic with a small bump over each letter. Those with larger fingers may find this keyboard difficult to use.
For starters, the 3.5 inch QVGA screen is larger than most, making for a pleasant web browsing experience (although it doesn't have full WAP functionality). It's got 240x320 pixels of resolution and supports over 65,000 colors. The display is easy on the eyes with sharp, easily visible characters and images. The screen is touch sensitive and comes with a stylus to allow you to navigate your way through menus with ease.
Other features include 128 MB of RAM and a user-replaceable battery. You can buy an extra battery to extend the life of this device without bringing the whole charger along. A desktop USB charger is included in the price. The PPC6601 also has a port for attaching a car antenna to improve phone reception.
At 6.8 ounces and 4.9 by 2.7 by 0.7 inches, this phone is on the large and heavy side. You may feel like upgrading to a full-fledged personal digital assistant.
LG PM-325
Although this phone is Bluetooth enabled, Sprint has disabled the file transfer capability, a definite disappointment. The talk time of just over 3 hours is also a bit disappointing. It's a small, lightweight phone at 3.9 by 1.8 by 0.9 inches and 3.3 ounces.
The phone book only stores 199 names, much less than other phone books which offer 500 or even 1,000 slots. Each entry can store up to 5 phone numbers but only one email address (an almost universal oversight in mobile phone address books.)
However, this phone does come with an impressive array of management features. You can have three-way calling, speed dial, auto answer, caller groups, voice dial, voice memos, text messaging, multimedia messaging, a calendar, and a notepad. It even offers you an alarm clock, a world clock and a tip calculator. The LG PM-325 can be found for between $200 and $250.
PalmOne Treo 650
This mobile has an integrated Bluetooth speakerphone. It comes with a 312MHz processor, email support, and world phone capability. The high resolution display is a definite plus and the low memory (only 23 MB) is a definite minus.
This phone also comes with a removable battery, so you can bring along a spare. With a talk time of 5 hours and a standby time of 14 days, that may not be as much of a concern as with other phones. All in all, this phone offers many of the features of the Audiovox PPC6601 for less than half the price-around $300.
